2/22/2024 0 Comments Leaning tower of pizza ohio![]() I had trouble keeping the toppings on the slice I was eating because they all came off with every bite due to the tuff cheese. The cheese was not too thick and was a little tuff when I bit into it. The sausage had a nice spice to it, so over all the meat portion of the pizza was good. I wish they would have put the pepperoni on top of the cheese because I like crispy pepperoni. The pepperoni was cooked under the cheese with the sausage on top and the crust was a medium thickness. ![]() It was a 16" pepperoni and sausage pizza. First I'll give you a basic overview of the pizza, then I'll let you know what I thought of it. I waited for about 25 minutes as my pizza cooked sitting in the old style train station bench. When I ordered my food the employee was very friendly, making it a quick and painless process. When I walked in the door I was greeted with loud 70's music, and the entire interior was plastered with anything to do with pop culture in the 70's. You can "go home again." It's magic, what they do here. This nostalgic hole-in-the-wall pizza and sub joint has been serving downtown Mansfield for the past 30 or 40 years. The food is every bit as good as it ever was and it's still fun to eat it in your car in the parking lot just like we did in decades past. Old Joe Hess is no longer behind the counter but most of the same rock music posters still cover the walls and ceiling. Foolish, huh? Except that the pizza and subs at the Leaning Tower REALLY IS BETTER than anywhere's else! Jes saying, y'know? Went back for a reunion and was thtilled that the ol' hangout is still there, hardly changed a whit. ![]() I read TA reviews of pizza places here and people keep saying "It's not as good as what I used to get in NY, Chicago, Philly, L.A., etc." Really, it's not that the pizza's bad here it's just that folks carry that emotional baggage that their hometown food is the only kind that really matters. ![]() For those of us who grew up in Mansfield, it's the Tower. I think everyone has a memory of some food in their early life that they remember as" the best they ever had." So many of us that have moved away from the towns where we grew up remember the pizza or burgers or chicken or whatever it was we enjoyed in our heydays. ![]()
